Feel The Clubhead Swing
3m

In this episode of Ask Malaska Golf, Mike Malaska and Certified Coach Austin Graham from Cleveland, Ohio answer a question from Ralph Biline that may sound simple – but gets to the heart of a major issue in most golfers’ swings: Do you actually feel the weight of the clubhead?
Mike explains that if you can't feel the clubhead and the arc it’s swinging on, you don’t know what you’re reacting to. And if you can’t feel what’s hitting the ball – you’ll never swing consistently. Tour pros know exactly where the clubhead is throughout the motion. Most amateurs? They’ve never felt it at all.
Austin introduces a practical fix from M2 in the M-System:
Flip the club upside down and make slow, smooth swings. There’s no weight on the end, so it teaches awareness through contrast. Then flip it back, and suddenly the clubhead feels real. You’re no longer swinging blindly – you’re feeling the momentum of the head and letting it guide the motion.
Mike adds that once golfers tap into this feel, they not only gain better control – but also more speed with less effort. When the lever system and timing align naturally, distance becomes easier and more repeatable.

What You’ll Learn in This Video:
• Why feeling the weight and arc of the clubhead is essential to ball control
• A simple drill to train clubhead awareness
• How the M2 concept helps connect feel with swing motion
• Why less tension leads to more speed and better contact

Key Insights
Most golfers lose power and consistency because they try to muscle the swing instead of letting it flow.
The key to efficient speed and solid contact is to feel the weight of the clubhead – not just move your body.
Simple drills like flipping the club create sensory feedback that helps you internalize natural motion.
This approach is at the heart of the M-System – building motion-based awareness that leads to effortless power and precision.
You don't need more force – you need more feel.

“You hit the ball with the clubhead – so if you can’t feel it, you’re just hoping it shows up.”
